Luxury self-catering holiday cottages in Cumbria and the
Lake District area at Helm Mount Barns

Helm Mount Barns are ideally located for easy access to the M6, Cumbria and Yorkshire making them an ideal holiday retreat and touring base. Kirkby Lonsdale and the Yorkshire Dales are within 20 minutes to the east and to the west Windermere, Ambleside and the south Lakes are easily accessible within half an hour. Kendal, the local town is a thriving community with numerous shops, bars and restaurants and river walks can be enjoyed along the River Kent.

The cottages are located in the hamlet of Barrows Green just two miles south of Kendal, with the local village pub only a short walk away.
​
Our self-catering holiday cottages have been personally created by the owners, furnished to the highest standards, are stylish as well as practical and have had no expense spared to provide luxury accomodation for your holiday enjoyment.

SPRING COTTAGE
Welcome to our 3 bedroomed cottage comprising of an en-suite master bedroom, a generous 2nd double bedroom and a twin bedded 3rd bedroom. There is a separate family bathroom adjacent to the bedrooms. Downstairs, there is an open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. in addition, there is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier plus a toilet
AUTUMN COTTAGE
Autumn Cottage is a 4 bedroom/ 3 bathroom cottage including 2 en-suite. The cottage has a large entrance hallway leading to a kitchen dinner ample for 8 guests. There is a large lounge and library! Along with a separate utility and downstairs toilet, this cottage offers superb accommodation for a large family!

This barn conversion has been furnished with a blend of traditional and contemporary style using the owners imaginative flair for colour and co-ordinated fabrics to provide a superb holiday cottage to be enjoyed at any time of the year..
THE OLD PIGGERY
Welcome to our latest conversion. The Old Piggery is a wheelchair friendly, less abled, guest friendly accommodation offers an open plan downstair kitchen, dining and lounge area. A large downstairs double bedroom an level floor running into a superb bathroom. The upstairs offers another double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom
HELM MOUNT LODGE
The Lodge is a fabulous 'party' room which is included for use by our guests who reserve 2 or 3 of our properties.
It provides comfortable seating for larger groups and the dining table is set up for 14 adult guest with adequate space left for high chairs for our younger guests!
It also boasts a large log burner for cosy evenings in front of the fire and a slate bedded pool table for competitive guests!

On booking Helm Mount lodge this includes the use of the Lodge. this holds a Pool table and large games area

Fresh linen and house cleaning will be completed prior to arrival. All Housekeeping during stay will be completed by the guests.

There is a separate sitting area for each property, with the beautiful Lake District scenery surrounding the barns.
Large Party Dining Facility

Situated in Barrows Green, which is 6 miles from Junction 36 on the M6 and 4 miles from Kendal town centre our location provides easy access to the South Lakes and peninsulas to the west and popular tourist towns of Ambleside, Windermere, Bowness-On-Windermere, Grasmere and Arnside and to the east Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh, Ingleton, Hawes and Settle.
Within two miles is Oxenholme railway station on the main west coast line serving between London and Glasgow. It also provides access by local trunk line to Kendal, Staveley and Windermere. The area is well served by taxis and buses if required.

We are located just off the A65 half way between Kendal and junction 36 on the M6 (roughly 3 miles from each direction).
The postcode is shared by the local area so when nearing Helm Mount Barns the postcode will want to take you the wrong way! On sighting The Punch Bowl Inn you need to turn away from the Inn up the lane across the A65 (don't worry, you can visit the pub later). After 400 Metres up the hill you will find us on the left hand side.
